Just when the going gets tough, the tough gets going too...
After one epsoide came another....Yesterday, it was mine and my helper's turn. I was not feeling very well during mid-day of work and dragged myself on till reached home. Down with fever, stomach cramping, chills and muscle aches at night. Thereafter came my maid with few times of vomitting after her dinner too.
Then just nice flipped thr my boy's Singapore's Child Magazine and there is a article about "Norovirus".. . and YES, i think all in our household caught that virus except hb. Worse thing is that, there is no medication to cure.....we have to fight with our own immunity. No wonder, the kids are so sick,,,they are so young so more.... haiz!
This is what in the magazine says..
Norovirus is a type of virus that causes gastroenteritis, which is known as stomache flu. It is a
very common and highly contagious viral infection. Anyone can become infected by Norovirus, which can be found in the stool or vomit of infected people and can spread easily from person to person. It is an inflammation of the stomach and intestines. So people who are infected by Norovirus will mostly experience symptoms like nause, stomach cramping, vomitting and diarrhoea. Some people have low grade fever, headaches, chills, muscle aches. In general, children experience more vomitting than adults.
There is no antiviral medication that works against Norovirus. Antibotics cannot be used to treat the infection because they work to combat bacteria, not viruses. There is also no vaccine to prevent infection.
PS: THis is the same kind of virus outbreak in four local schools recently....
